Dunedin, FLA (November 19, 2018) – Honeymoon Island State Park announces new bike trail under construction to open soon.

Honeymoon Island State Park offers an array of recreational activities, from award-winning sandy beaches to beautiful nature trails, and soon, a new, paved bike trail. The bike trail will offer cyclists and pedestrians a safe loop spanning from the park entrance up through North Beach. State officials approximate the length of the trail to be about 3 miles long with a completion date by mid-December 2018 (the official date will be announced at a later time).

The new trail is a great addition to the Dunedin community. Residents, visitors and avid cyclists who frequently ride on the existing Pinellas Trail (via Dunedin Causeway) will be able to extend their ride onto Honeymoon Island once the trail is completed. The park offers a reduced entrance fee of $2 for pedestrians and bicyclists. Those who visit the park regularly may want to consider purchasing a yearround pass. More information about park fees and passes is available at FloridaStateParks.org.

Visitors to Honeymoon Island are currently able to rent bikes to explore the park’s existing unpaved nature trails. Bike rentals are available at South Beach Pavilion along with food and beverage and beach accessories like sun protection and souvenirs. South Beach Pavilion and Café Honeymoon are operated by the Bon Appetit Group.
