Bon Appétit Group donates over 400 pounds of
food to Dunedin Cares Food Pantry
Dunedin, FL – May 16, 2019 – Yesterday, the Bon Appétit Group donated 492 pounds of collected food to the Dunedin Cares, Inc. Food Pantry as part of their Peanut Butter and Jelly (PB&J) Challenge.
According to Dunedin Cares, “Over 50% of the students in the Dunedin Public elementary and middle schools, as well as surrounding areas, are on the Free or Reduced lunch program.” The food pantry created the PB & J Challenge to drive community awareness and encourage donations to help them stock their shelves with kid friendly. non-perishable food items to prepare for the increased need once summer break commences.
From May 1 to May 15, the Bon Appétit Group accepted donations from generous Bon Appétit Group employees and guests from all their locations (Bon Appétit Restaurant, Café Alfresco, Romantic Honeymoon Island, Weddings on Sand Key Beach and retail store lessees).
“As an active member of the Dunedin community, I know how giving Dunedin businesses and residents can be – but it was especially encouraging to see the outpouring of community spirit during the Peanut Butter and Jelly Challenge,” said Ellen Hale, concierge for the Bon Appetit Group, “The team work and camaraderie of everyone coming together to support Dunedin Cares and the families they serve was really incredible.”
The Dunedin Cares, Inc. Food Pantry mission is to increase sustainable approaches to meet the social service needs of the residents of Dunedin and nearby municipalities. Since opening their doors in 2015, Dunedin Cares has distributed 103 tons of food, serving over 17 thousand people in the community. As a non-profit 501 (C) charitable organization, the food pantry relies heavily on food and financial donations from the Dunedin community, including churches, schools, civic organizations and local businesses and volunteers.
The Bon Appétit Group, has been serving the Clearwater area for over 40 years. Long known for excellent food and catering with the success of their first venture, Bon Appétit Restaurant located on the waterfront in Dunedin, FL, led to the company’s expansion into retail space leasing in Downtown Dunedin as well as food and beach rental concessions on Honeymoon Island, Caladesi Island, Sand Key Beach, and various other area beach parks. The Bon Appétit Group was founded and is still operated by Peter Kreuziger and Karl Riedl.
